#Eureka - Cornstalks & Crewnecks

My friend Staci and I felt that because our #grownupcarnvial was so much fun, we needed to start planning another party so we had something to look forward to and a reason to get all of our friends together again. We began brainstorming and decided to throw a fall themed party in tribute to our favorite season. Long story short, a brainstorming session ended in naming our event Cornstalks and Crewnecks (After all, I love a good crewneck sweatshirt). While working on our secret joint Pinterest board for the event, I came across the perfect fall crewneck on eBay to wear to our fall bash (pictured below) and I showed it to Staci. She managed to find a matching one on Etsy - it was meant to be. Our party took place this past Saturday and was a success.  Here is us in our matching attire posing in the 'photo op' area Staci set up in her yard.

We had lots of great fall food including pumpkin curry soup, chili, trail mix, spiced pumpkin seeds, roasted almonds, carmel apples, a s'mores station, and so on. We had hot chocolate and apple cider that guests could spike with our various alcohol selection. We also encouraged our guests to wear their favorite crewneck sweatshirt and were overjoyed to see that many of them actually made their own fall sweatshirts just for the party! Each guest also got a raffle ticket and could earn more raffle tickets by winning the games. Every so often we would draw raffle ticket numbers to earn prizes.

Games Included:

  • Bobbing for apples (We thought this was mostly for display - then people actually did it and got soaked)
  • Huge yard Yahtzee (Similar to this)
  • Huge yard Jenga (Similar to this)
  • Pumpkin ring toss
  • Pumpkin carving and painting
  • Football (Watch football on TV)
  • Guess the amount of Candy Corn
  • Needle in a Haystack (With prizes in a bunch of hay)
  • Ghost Stories  (Which turned into watching YouTube videos)
  • Board Games  (Attempt to play Quija correctly)

It was a little colder than we expected but we wrapped ourselves in blankets and still had a blast. I am so lucky to have friends who are willing to dress up, participate in crazy games, and have fun no matter what they are doing or the circumstances. It makes for an exciting life. Here are a few of my favorite snapshots from the event.
