#Eureka - Cataloging my Closet

I have always envied the virtual wardrobe computer program that Cher uses in the movie Clueless.

I have tried different apps that attempt to catalog your closet like Cher's virtual wardrobe stylist and finally found one that I like! It is called Stylebook. You can get it on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod for $3.99. On this app you take pictures of all of your clothes, shoes, and accessories and store it in the app. You can use the easy editing software on the app to take out the background in each photo for a more professional look. You can write notes about each piece of clothing if you want to keep track of how much you spent on items, the cleaning care, etc. The app allows you to put together your pieces into looks (outfits) and you can track what looks you wear on various days. I love that I can lay in bed at night and put together an outfit for the next day.

The app will also keep 'Style Stats' for you on things like how often you wear certain pieces. I like this so I can see what pieces I really don't wear and then when I go through my closet to donate items, I will actually be able to part with things because I will have data to back up the fact that I never wear that item (the psychologist in me loves that I can take data on my clothes). There is also a portion where you can shop for pieces to buy or pictures of inspiration items. The app picks out clothes that you can browse by store or by what type of piece you are looking for.  I look forward to using the app when I go shopping. If I want to buy something, I can see if I have something similar already or if I have pieces that go with that item. I have spent the last few days cataloging my closet and feel so organized. I kept saying that I have nothing to wear and making the catalog has made me realize that is not true at all : )

Here is a screenshot of my blouses that I entered into the app. You can add whatever categories that you want and make categories for the looks as well. So that way you can have outfits for work separate from causal or weekend outfits.

The only problem I had with cataloging my clothes is that Pax kept trying to lay on each piece as I was taking the pictures. . .ย
